Health-Care Time Bombs

I started working for New York Telephone in September of 1970, I retired in 2003. Over my 33 years at NY Tel (later to become Verizon) I was on strike many times. Most of these strikes were to either secure better health benefits or keep what we had. During these strikes, some which lasted months , some just weeks, I did not get paid. When my children were young it was a tough time to be going months without a paycheck.

In one fell swoop the new Obamacare will probably force my old company to scale back or drop some health benefits for retirees. The ones I worked and fought for over the years. I'm puzzled. Why did unions fight for this fraud? It escapes me!

At National Review Online they have listed some of the time bombs to come. I highly recommend it for reading. Just click the title. Its only the first week of O-Care and the bombs are going off all over....Posted by Jim Fitz

  1. Jim, I remember those very difficult days when you did shape up or whatever you could during those strikes. I especially remember what it was like when Scott was born in the middle of one of the longest ones. You fought very hard for those medical benefits we, your family, have been lucky enough to have all these years. It is totally unfair that a bill which nobody understands can take those benefits away.
