Christmas Poem

THE WEEK AFTER CHRISTMAS
(In Washington, DC)

The passing of H.R 3962 and H.R.3590

A little bit of sarcasm from Joni/NJ

Twas the week after Christmas In Washington DC

The snowflakes have fallen. It's beautiful to see

"The Hill" is now empty and quiet as a mouse

The "RATS" have all scattered, each to their own house

How Our Founders would shudder to see what transpired

In the Halls of this Congress, in two thousand and nine

The will of the people was completely ignored

They acted as if we don't matter anymore

And all of the indicators available to see

Were telling them "vote no" on this monstrosity

But The Wizards of Washington all had their say

As they twisted some arms to make sure Dems don't stray

After Nancy did her part she passed it to Harry

Now he's cutting his deals, Oh man is this scary!

Eyes lit up like Satan They smirked as they spoke

The peoples objections were treated like jokes

See they had the sixty they needed for cloture

Then just fifty one would let this part be over

Meanwhile the crap's flying in backrooms and bars

While we're still stuck paying for "Clunker" Junk Cars

We thought Mary Landrieu cut such a sweet deal

Till we heard what Ben Nelson was able to steal

Why just the day prior Ben tried to deceive

To get on our good side he'd have us believe

That he voted a nay vote on DeMint's little motion

But RedState uncovered the true poisoned potion

A yea vote he wrote on the original ballot

Then changed it before the end slam of the mallot

Now Obama stayed late to make sure they obeyed

While Rahm threatened each as he gave them a wave

Even "Don't mess with Joe" presided this time

Betcha he'll grab some credit for the Health Care design

It don't matter to Joe if it's good or it's bad

As long as his son's can say "Look, that's my dad"

Does he see how they cringe when he goes on TV?

I'm just glad it's not my dad embarrassing me

Reids Vote was a "No" as they broke into laughter

But he was just kidding "Yes" he shouted after

They try to deceive us they think we can't see

But we're not as stupid as they'd like us to be

They don't understand that we're all taking notes

And they'll get their due when it's our time to vote

They try to deceive us they think we don't know

They'll see in 2010, to the polls we will go

It's not for the people they did this, you know

It's just to "make history" it's their "little show"

Their name in a book is all they want to see

They don't really care about you or 'bout me

But their moment of glory will soon quickly fade

When the people find out what's on each rotten page

There's a new Health Care Mandate and If you don't comply

It's off to the pokey in the blink of an eye

When they've increased the taxes to pay for this mess

When they've rationed our treatments and caused us distress

When the dollar decreases and China collects

Will they start pulling land grabs to pay off our debts?

Maybe then ALL will join us, admit they were wrong,

and help fight this Evil before it's too strong

Parting Note -

While Hillary's off in some strange foreign land

Bill could be heard exclaiming "Hey, Isn't Life Grande?!"

Merry Christmas to the United States Congress
